Ultrasonic cleaners are not recommended and never use ammonia or any chemical solution such as dips. These gem materials should just be wiped clean gently with a moist cloth. Other materials can be too abrasive and leave finescratches in the silver and can dull the highly polished stones. ·Never use toothpaste or other abrasives to clean metal or stones. The abrasives in toothpaste can damage the surface of the metal and can scuff the surface on softer stones. ·Alcohol should never be used to clean stones.·Remove jewelry before swimming, Chlorine and related chemicals can severely discolor and damage jewelry as well as loosen stones and settings. Put your jewelry on after using cosmetics, hair spray or perfumes to avoid contact with substances and chemicals which could damage the stones.Storage Store each piece of gemstone jewelry separately so that harder stones don't scratch softer ones. Almost everygemstone is much harder than the metal it is set in. Gems can scratch the finish on your gold, silver or platinum if youthrow your jewelry in a heap in a drawer or jewelry box.
